The SEO Experience is a personal blog run by me, Nicolas Sartor. There are no accounts, no comments, no newsletter and no ads. The short version: I use Google Analytics to see which posts get read, and only with your consent.

Who is responsible for your data

Nicolas Sartor, reachable at nico@theseoexperience.com. Email me for any question or request about your data.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

If you click Accept on the cookie banner, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_<id>) and collects things like the pages you view, which buttons you use (for example, sharing your spot in an app, which sends your rank but never what you typed), the site that sent you here, your device and browser type, and your approximate location. Google derives the location from your IP address, butGoogle Analytics 4 doesn't log or store IP addresses. I use this only to understand which posts are useful. It isn't used for advertising, and advertising signals are always turned off.

If you click Decline, or never choose, no analytics cookies are set. Google's consent mode may still send basic cookieless signals (for example, that a page was loaded) without identifiers.

Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics, at most 14 months (Google's retention settings). Google processes it as described inhow Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can also block Google Analytics everywhere withGoogle's opt-out browser add-on.

Hosting (Cloudflare)

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes request data (such as your IP address, browser user agent and the page requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. SeeCloudflare's privacy policy.

What stays on your device

The site saves a few preferences in your browser's local storage. They are never sent anywhere:

  • tse-theme: light or dark theme, if you used the toggle
  • tse-body: the reading font for posts, if you changed it
  • tse-consent: your answer to the cookie banner

Fonts are hosted on this site, so loading a page doesn't contact Google Fonts or any other font service.

Emailing me

If you email me, I get your email address and whatever you write. I use it only to reply, and I'll delete it if you ask.

Links to other sites

Posts link to other sites (sources, tools, my own projects). Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this one doesn't cover them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or California's CCPA), you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data about you, or object to its processing. Analytics only runs on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the button above. I don't sell or share personal data. Emailnico@theseoexperience.com for any request.

Changes

If what the site collects changes (for example, if I add ads), I'll update this page and the date at the top.
